Ingredients:

1 tbsp butter

2/3 cup onion, chopped

2/3 cup carrot, chopped

2/3 cup celery, chopped

4 cloves of fresh garlic, minced

1 pound of grass fed bison (water buffalo)

1 pound of ground turkey

4 sweet potatoes, chopped into 1 inch pieces

1 large can of crushed San Marzano tomatoes

3 cups of homemade bison bone broth

2 tsp sea salt

2 bay leaves

3 tbsp red chili powder

1 tbsp cumin powder

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp cinnamon powder

1/2 tsp ginger powder

1/2 tsp allspice powder

Fresh ground pepper to taste

 

Serve with Sour Cream, Crushed Tortilla Chips, Chopped Cilantro, Chopped Tomatoes and Shredded Cheddar Cheese!

Preparation:

Combine ingredients in the order of the ingredients above in a large dutch oven pot over medium-high heat. Make sure meat is cooked through before adding the remaining ingredients. Once the soup boils, allow it to boil for 3 minutes and then reduce to low heat to simmer for an hour. You want to soup to thicken and the sweet potatoes to be tender. Enjoy!
