The most memorable dining experiences are the ones in which we are immersed in exceptional food and conversation. XII is a monthly pop up dinner series celebrating local ingredients with spices and flavors from around the globe.
In the ever changing landscape of the restaurant industry, our goal is to showcase how different cuisines and individuals from all walks of life can come together to share a spectacular meal at one table.
Instead of conventional titles, we simply define our dinners as numbers. Numbers are neutral. There is no preconceived notion of what to expect. Our dinners are the unforeseen journey of what can come out of thoughtful collaboration by industry pioneers. Simply put, leave the day behind, place your evening in our hands and be open to the XII shared dining experience.
To celebrate the first pop up dinner of the series, Johanna’s Table will pay tribute to where its culinary journey began: Liguria. A region of Northern Italy just off the Mediterranean coast, Liguria is known for its exquisite seafood, unique Genovese basil and wild herbs, as well as a life altering focaccia. This evening’s concept reflects the childhood of Chef Johanna - trips home to where her mother was born and raised - and her excited eagerness to share a regional cuisine yet to be celebrated in DC. Join Johanna’s Table to be transported from Portofino to Cinque Terre through this five course shared dining experience. Cheesemonger Alice Bergen Phillips will set the tone of the meal with her grazing centerpiece of cheese and charcuterie. Throughout each course Sommelier Michael Rovezzi will guide your wine palate through pairings highlighting the region’s diverse grapes. Mess Hall’s open kitchen concept allows all guests to observe the preparation of the meal. Lastly, Chef Johanna and crew look forward to interacting and sharing each plate’s story with you.
